Unwritten Woman

Photography by Kat Gollock, made in response to the poetry collection

Unwritten Woman by Hannah Lavery

A collection of two halves, Unwritten Woman rescues the forever overlooked female characters from the periphery of RL Stevenson’s gothic novel The Strange Case of Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde and shines a spotlight on the things we choose not to see in this life. With Edinburgh as the backdrop, the aim of these images is to capture the darkness and fear and secrecy of our hidden lives in a bid to unearth the light and dark of it all.

These images were projected as part of Hannah Lavery’s poetic performance of the work at Soundhouse Winter Festival which was accompanied by music composed by Kate Young
